Joe played with Brooklyn and was selected for the Irish Free State team at the 1924 Paris Olympics the first internationals played by the new state, after which he signed for Everton but never gained a first team place ,returned to Dublin in 1928 to play for Shelbourne and Dolphin.

Benny Henderson ( Drumcondra ) although born in Sandymount, Benny could be considered a Boro' man because he married a girl from Glasthule and lived in the area and worked in Findlaters shop in the town for many years .
Benny was responsible for arranging the Workman's Club V Drumcondra, St Vincent de Paul annual charity matches in the 1950s in Congress Park
